graffiti

Graffiti is art.  What I love about it is that it breaks the rules.  And the color!  Those gestures and the emotions coming out.  The structure becomes the canvas, the textures underneath adding depth and dimension to an already symphonic collection of color and media.

The lettering in graffiti is so foreign to me…again, breaking the rules.  The direction of flow tends to go to the left and up, instead of the conventional manner — to the right, to the right, repeat, repeat.  I attempted writing the alphabet in some sort of graffiti tone.  It felt weird, like I was holding the pencil in my left hand.  But I liked what happened — it broke me from my comfort zone and stirred something in me that wanted to explore further…
